Warrington Conclave No119 supports Stick ‘n’ Step Charity |
Following its recent Installation Meeting where donations to various charities were announced Warrington Conclave No119 tasked Wy Bro Bob Williams with ensuring that those charities chosen to benefit from the conclaves disbursement of charity funds received them in a personal and timely manner. |
Contacting the charity Stick ‘n’ Steps a charity that enables, inspires and supports children with cerebral palsy alongside their families Bob was informed that an ideal opportunity to present the cheque for the conclaves donation of £200 would be at a forthcoming “Bongo Bingo Night” which had been arranged to raise funds for Iris a young child suffering from cerebral palsy. This was quite poignant as the parents and family of Iris were personal friends of Bob and his wife Joan. |

Stick ‘n’ Step supports children and young people with cerebral palsy up to the age of 25 through the provision of free weekly conductive education (CE) sessions. |
Conductive education is based on a ‘simple’ concept of human potential; meaning that everyone has the capability to learn and develop irrespective of their starting point. |
Disabled children are often assessed for what they ‘cannot do’ rather than what potential they have. Conductors are specialists that are trained to observe this potential in a child; to nurture their development and devise structured programmes to enable success. Conductive Education combines education, psychology and medical science and considers all aspects of the person simultaneously. |
These sessions are delivered by highly skilled professionals from their specialist centres in Wallasey and Runcorn and are designed to help each child reach their personal potential in terms of mobility, confidence, and independence. |
As a charity Stick ‘n’ Steps don’t receive any government funding and rely on an army of supporters and volunteers to help raise the £750,000 required to deliver their services to over 100 families each year so donations such as this from Warrington Conclave No 119 go a long way in helping to ensure the continuation of the good work that they do. |
